I'm the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, they are my world! Life has definetely had it's ups and downs but I try to take it all with stride.

Our greatest glory is not in never falling , but in rising every time we fall

This quote has been one I have lived by...I've had to, I have certainly fallen down enough times! Many have been self inflicted...true but if I didn't believe this I would be in a crazy house in the fetal position ;)

sweet hummus

at my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary party my sister in law brought a great dip, she said it was cookie dough dip...hmmmm then after I tried it, she told me it was hummus!!  It was amazing!  she make with chickpeas, chocolate and butterscotch chips, sugar and peanut butter.  My mom was not a believer that beans could be a dessert, so I did some experimenting. My mom does not like peanut butter so I thought I would try to make the dip to taste like her brownies, I used:
1 can Great Northern beans (wash them really well)
1 1/3 cup Nutella
1/2 cup syrup (I think I might use another low calorie sweetener next time)
1/2 bag chocolate chips
2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp almond
Put all ingredients in a food processer and mix until smooth.
I kept tasting mine, and adjusted accordingly.  Its all a matter of your own taste.
These measurements are not exact since I experiment with cooking (aka don't like to measure).  I used 1/4 cup peanut butter and 2 cup nutella, but next time I won't use peanut butter at all.  I think any sweetener would work, even sugar.
I served the dip with sliced apples and grahmn crackers (sister in laws idea).

Thanks alanna for the incredible idea.  This is a great way to get more protein into my 18 month old!

idea to redo old furniture in a cheap way!

I was at the eye doctor with my 14 year old and I saw a great idea on how to refinish furniture in a fun way!  I am going to do it today and tommorrow, I will post pictures and how to, you can use wrapping paper and mod pod and spray acrilic!  I am going to refinish my old dresser (21 year old dresser).  I can't wait to try it!I will post more when it's all done!

Check this out

The real hero

I was just reading my previous blog and realized that my Heavenly Father is keeping me strong , I owe everything to my Heavenly Father and savior Jesus Christ. I'm not sure how I could get through this time without my faith

Healing through iphone

I have noticed since my separation that I have uploaded song after song to my iphone...and they are all sad, or about being wronged and staying tough...I listen to them everyday, I have decided that I need to listen to them or I will want to give up on hope.  They are what is getting me through and keeping me strong...so thank you christina aguilera, sarah evans, kelly Clarkson, rascal flatts, natasha Bedingfield, Daughtry,Taylor Swift, The Band Perry and most recently Delilah singing "Grenade" on the sing off.  Thank you for making the music that is keeping me focused on what is truly important and not letting me wallow in self pity...well for very long anyway ;)

fun with cake

I have been dying to make those cake pops that are all the rage now. I was not willing to spend 20 bucks on the cake pop pan, so I found a whole bunch of recipes on how to make them without that fancy pan.  I made a devils food cake, let it cool, mixed in a half a can of frosting (cream cheese frosting), then rolled them into balls, put them in the freezer for about an hour, melted chocolate (almond bark, chocolate) dipped the lollipop sticks in and stuck it into the rolled cake ball, then I swired the cake ball around the chocolate and placed it standing up (I used floral foam),  then I melted white almond bark and placed it into a plastic bag and cut the corner tip to put stripes of white chocolate on the cake pops.  Now this was after a few trial and error runs, but this was the way I found works best, since many of the sites give different information.  Everyone loved them, and you can do so many fun things with this.  I can't wait to try it again....but this time I will give most away since they are VERY addictive :)
